The 8a Certification benefits small disadvantaged businesses that are owned and controlled by at least 51% by U.S. citizens who are socially and economically disadvantaged.

How to register in SAM for FREE!
In order to do business with U.S. federal government, you'll need to register your company in the System for Award Management also known as SAM and it's free!
SAM is the primary vendor database for the federal government. Registration is required by the Federal Acquisitions Regulations (F.A.R.) for all prospective vendors before being awarded any type of contract or agreement.
SAM is useful for marketing your business and best of all SAM registration is free! Government agencies and contractors can search for your company based on various factors including size, location, ability and ownership.

You will need your DUNS number or unique entity ID, you'll also need to create a login.gov account which can be confusing. There is core data about your business that must be entered, types of goods and services you provide, representations and certifications you and your company hold.

How to renew SAM registration for FREE!
After your initial SAM registration, you must update your registration annually. It is not a one-and-done process. If you're not sure if you are registered or not, you can simply use the free online tool and check entity registration status.
Also, if your entity's information changes or your administrator is no longer with the company, you'll need to create a user account and submit a Notarized Letter to gain access to update the existing registration.
